Picnic at Hanging Rock: Chapter II

Opening Reception: Saturday, July 27 | 6–8pm
A group exhibition riffing off the 1975 Peter Weir film, Picnic at Hanging Rock, in which spaces of the visible world (inhabited by prim Victorian school mistresses and dreamy adolescent girls) are contrasted with the unseen world (embodied by the monolithic ancient rock cropping in the Australian Bush) in a lush visual union.

La Plaza de Cultura y Artes | DTLA
Jaime Muñoz: Truth Is A Moving Target
Through January 25, 2025
This solo survey of work by the LA-based, first generation Chicano artist features large-scale mixed-media paintings and ink diagram drawings which use decorative and symbolic imagery to navigate themes of labor commodification, the conflict between colonial history and notions of modernity.

Greenhouse: Houseplants in Contemporary Art

Curated by Sue-Na Gay, this group show looks at the prevalence of houseplants in contemporary art, from interior landscapes to living sculptures and beyond. Also opening, Guillermo Mollinedo: Doble Fondo, an exploration of the practices and imagery of drug trafficking and cartels by the Mexican artist.
